Doing something the right way often has several benefits. For example: the transition from steel to a high-strength, military aluminum alloy in the F-150 body. Hardening of aluminum alloy by heat treatment provides greater strength. Working with aluminum alloy also allows designers to increase thickness if necessary to achieve extra strength without increasing weight. The more powerful F-150 weighs up to 317 kg less than previous generations, resulting in a higher power-to-weight ratio, better fuel efficiency, plus available payloads in its class.
The affordable 3.0L Power Stroke engine provides excellent performance and capabilities of the supercharged diesel engine: 5,216 kg of traction - great news if you pull a lot at work or for recreation. Possibility of loading up to 880 kg and 250 horsepower at 3250 rpm and 600 Nm of torque already at 1750 rpm. Plus consumption of just 8.3 l / 100 km fuel consumption on the highway to all this.
The F-150 EcoBoost®, V8 and diesel engines deliver power through an advanced 10-speed automatic transmission. Compared to a 6-speed, 10-speed transmission delivers improved overall performance with increased acceleration at low and medium speeds. Features include optimized wide-span spacing, drag reduction and three-speed gears. In addition, you can choose from optional modes: Normal, Tow-Haul, Snow-Wet, EcoSelect and Sport.
The fully "boxed" frame is made of more strong steel (up to 78%) and larger cross-sections than the frame in the previous generation. And while this frame is stronger and stiffer, it's also lighter by up to 27 kg, as many components are made using a state-of-the-art rolling process that minimizes weight.
