Doing something the right way often has several benefits. For example: the transition from steel to high-strength, military-grade aluminum in the F-series body. Hardening the aluminum alloy by heat treatment provides greater strength. Work with aluminum alloy as well allowing designers to increase the thickness when necessary to achieve extra strength without increasing weight. The more powerful F-series weighs up to 317kg less than the previous generation, resulting in a higher power-to-weight ratio, better fuel efficiency, plus available payload in its class.
6.7L Power Stroke THE BEST ENGINE IN ITS CLASS. Torque is the brute force that gets you up and moving from idle without effort or sweat, whether on a flat paved road or up a steep hill of rock and dirt on an off-road job site. Whether you're hauling a heavy payload in your pickup truck or towing a huge trailer, the power delivers the power to keep you going through the workday. With a best-in-class torque of 1,490 N/m at 1,600 rpm and a best-in-class 480 horsepower at 2,600 rpm, the third-generation 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo diesel engine rules the 2021 Ford Super Duty®. will ensure the necessary performance so that the work is always done quickly and well.
The V8 diesel engines deliver their power through an advanced 10-speed automatic transmission. Compared to the 6-speed, the 10-speed transmission delivers improved overall performance with increased low- and mid-range acceleration. Features include optimized gear spacing with a wide spread, drag reduction and three speed ratios. In addition, you can choose from optional modes: Normal, Tow-Haul, Snow-Wet, EcoSelect and Sport.ENGINE BRAKE. The 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel engine features a driver-activated engine and exhaust brake. It restricts the flow of turbocharger exhaust gases to create back pressure and slow the vehicle and provides better control when driving downhill, regardless of vehicle load or road GRADE. Also, because the engine brake helps minimize the need to press the pedal, brake fade and lining wear are reduced, reducing maintenance costs. There are three settings: On, Off and Automatic. The Auto setting modulates engine braking as needed and helps maintain desired speed based on accelerator and brake pedal use.
The fully "boxy" frame is made of more solid steel (up to 78%) and larger cross-sections than the frame in the previous generation. And while this frame is stronger and stiffer, it's also up to 27kg lighter, as many components are manufactured using a state-of-the-art rolling process that minimizes weight.
