1951 Ford F3

The first generation Ford F-Series (also known as Ford Bonus-Built trucks) is a series of trucks that were produced by Ford from 1948 to the 1952 model years. The introduction of the F-Series marked a departure in the design of Ford cars and trucks, developing a chassis designed for specifically for truck use. In addition to pick-ups, the model range also included box vans, bare and hooded chassis and marked Ford's entry into the medium and heavy truck segment. From 1947 to 1952, Ford assembled the F Series trucks at sixteen different plants across North America. In Canada, the model line was also sold through Lincoln-Mercury as the Mercury M-Series to expand dealer coverage in rural areas. This generation of F-series pickups is the only generation to have exclusively flathead engines (inline-6 and V8).
