The stock center bearing carrier holds the drive shaft in place with a layer of thin rubber. While this is great for ensuring no NVH enters the cabin, it doesn't keep the bearing well centered under load, allows the bearing to sag and destroy driveshaft alignment over time, and creates drivetrain slip during shifts and throttles.
Over time, the OEM case becomes brittle, eventually dry rotting and cracking. Even on the best-maintained cars, the stock bushing can start to develop cracks in as little as 5-10 years.
As the bushing wears and sags, the alignment of the drive shaft changes, putting more stress on the joints. During rapid driveshaft loading (starting, shifting, and rapid throttle application), the bearing can move off-center, causing drivetrain sag, resulting in delayed and unpredictable drivetrain response.
Our improved drive shaft carriers keep the drive shaft firmly in place at all times. Tighter bushings ensure that the bearing cannot move off-center, maintaining torque transfer and driveshaft alignment at all times, resulting in more direct drivetrain response in all conditions.
Benefits described by our customers include:
More direct throttle response
Firmer, more direct shifts
More instant starts
Reduction of vibration due to drive shaft misalignment and/or rubber damage
Smoother throttle on/off behavior (1st gear in parking lots)
